Infant/Toddler Teacher Aide

POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Hours: 40 hours/week
Status: Full Year
Location: South Madison - 3201 Latham Drive, Madison, WI

SUMMARY:

The Infant / Toddler Teacher Aide will help plan, design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for enrolled children, serve as a primary childcare provider for children 0 to 3 years old enrolled in Reach Dane infant / toddler centers. The Infant / Toddler Teacher Aide will comply with all licensing and Head Start requirements, follow families’ cultural values and practices in caring for their children, exhibit respect for parents and reinforce their vital role as the primary educator of their children, and assure licensing requirements are met and that the environment is clean and safe. They will also act as a positive liaison between community agencies, providing services to children and guidance to families.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum educational requirement of Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care, Introduction to Childcare Course, and/or Skills and Strategies; an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Infant Toddler Credential or CDA, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or in a related field that includes 18 credits in Early Childhood Education / Development preferred
  • Ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily classroom activities, and adapt to the individuals' needs of children
  • Bilingual, particularly Spanish and / or Hmong is desirable
  • Possess the ability to supervise young children ages 0 to 3 and assure their safety
  • Excellent communication skills, especially good listening skills
  • Experience working with low-income, multicultural environments is a plus
  • Other duties as assigned
