Transitional Childcare Programming Teacher

POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Hours: 40 hours/week
Status: Full Year
Location: 30 Dempsey Road, Madison

Pay: $19.00 an hour

Summary: The Transitional Childcare Programming Teacher, in partnership with Forward Services, will provide a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children ages 0-5 years that are served by and participate in the Wisconsin Works Program (W2). They will assist parents and families in the enrollment process and aid in acclimating children into the environment. They will provide Direct Care to children during their stay ensuring all children are provided with a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials to ensure the children feel welcomed and enjoy their visit. They will support other classrooms when there is low or no enrolled children for the day. They is responsible for ensuring the classroom is maintained in a clean and orderly manner. They will follow Reach Dane policies and procedures and Wisconsin State Licensing rules and standards (when applicable). They will maintain positive relationships with families, Reach Dane staff and community partners.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • CDA or Credential minimum qualifications
  • AA and/or BA degree preferred; related BA degree accepted
  • Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to children, families, staff and community, and collaborative agencies.
  • Must be willing to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s mission
  • Knowledge of and experience with infant/toddler, preschool, and school aged care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to low-income and families of diverse cultures.
  • Knowledge of and experience with children with special needs is desirable
  • Demonstrate effective listening, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Successfully pass Caregiver Background Check prior to employment and a physical examination including TB test verifying employee is free of communicable diseases and physical ability to perform job responsibilities
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to all cultures
