Bus Aide

Department: Education Preschool (3-5)
Location: Madison, WI

POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:

Location: South Madison, 3201 Latham Drive

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: 6:45 am- 8:15 am

Hours 2:00 - 4:30 pm - Part Year*

Pay $15.84 an hour

SUMMARY:
The Bus Aide will assist with the daily pick-up and delivery of children on the bus route. The Bus Aide will provide a developmentally appropriate transportation experience for children, as well as ensure that all children are safe on the bus route. Provide safe boarding, riding, and exiting of passengers.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Successfully pass the Caregiver Background Check

  • Successfully pass a physical examination, which verifies the employee is free from communicable diseases and is physically able to perform required job responsibilities

  • Maintain the interior of assigned bus so as to guarantee a clean and sanitary environment for individuals being transported

  • Demonstrate sensitivity toward all cultures

  • Ability to participate in all required bus aide training and professional development

  • Experience working with low-income, multicultural families

  • Ability to address the needs of children with disabilities

  • Bilingual, particularly Spanish and / or Hmong, is desired

  • Physical dexterity, coordination, mobility, visual acuity and emotion health to perform the essential functions of the position including the ability to lift and/or restrain children of varying levels and sizes

  • Obtain Pediatric CPR certification within 6 months of employment

  • Knowledge of basic first aid

*Part Year employees have built in vacations which include summer break, 2 weeks in winter, and spring break (part year staff follow the school district calendar in which their program is located)
