Family Engagement Specialist

Department: HS Home-Based
Location: Madison, WI

POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Hours: 32 a week
Status: Full Year 

Pay: $20.00 an hour

The Family Engagement Specialist (FES) is charged with developing a strong presence on  the Northside on behalf of the Northside Early Childhood Zone (NECZ). With the NECZ  team, the FES will foster strong partnerships with the community to provide outreach  opportunities and further NECZ awareness. The FES will help facilitate the development of the  Community Advisory Board and also identify parent leaders to serve on this Board. The FES is an  integral part of the NECZ connecting team members, enrolled families, and the community to provide  opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Qualifications/Requirements:  

  • Successfully pass the Background Verification Day Care check as required by the State of Wisconsin Administrative Rules. 

  • Has excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Is available for evening and occasional weekend work hours  

  • Has project planning experience and/or related skill sets  

  • Has experience with outreach for community events  

  • Is highly reliable and consistently available for a structured work schedule  

  • Experience working with children from low income families and diverse cultures 

  • Experience building positive, collaborative relationships with parents living in poverty 

  • Living in the Northside area preferred but not required 

  • It is preferable but not required that the FES lives on the Northside of Madison, WI  

  • Knowledge of early childhood development would be helpful, but not required  

  • Knowledge of trauma, effects of trauma on adults and children, especially in regard to communicating 

  • Has access to reliable transportation and have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and adequate liability insurance as required by agency policy and state liability regulations
